Who is that guy?
The Friend you didn’t know you needed.
Just a little guy
KORO the Rhinoceros Beetle
He’s got all the moods…
Koro is a tiny beetle with a big personality. His moods shift with your pantry—he beams when things are fresh, sulks when food is about to expire, and perks up when you find a recipe. He’s here to make the experience feel friendly, fun, and alive.
Research
Research was the backbone of this project. I conducted user interviews and surveys to understand real pantry habits and frustrations, which helped shape a clear persona and guide the user flows. This foundation ensured the app was not only functional but genuinely useful and intuitive for everyday needs.
Interviews & Thoughts
I spoke with people about their food habits to better understand their needs. Their input directly shaped the app’s design.
“I recently had to clear out a lot of dairy stuff and it was frustrating because I have no way of buying this stuff in smaller quantities for myself. I was wasting money for bills.”
“I usually have a low budget so I buy the cheapest stuff and I buy very little so I don’t spend much at once and it doesn’t waste.”
“My husband and I choose different things to buy from different grocery stores depending on what’s the cheapest. We try to buy just enough so things don’t go to waste.”
The user flows were built around real-life scenarios uncovered during research. Whether it’s a busy student shopping efficiently or someone living solo and planning meals, each flow maps out a clear, intuitive path through the app’s features.
User Flows
Another flow focuses on users with tight budgets aiming to reduce waste. It highlights how the app supports smart decisions—like using leftovers, planning meals, and budgeting—all designed to make everyday food management easier and more mindful.
Journey Map
This journey map outlines the emotional and practical experience of managing food—from planning and storing to realizing waste and adjusting habits. It helped identify key moments of frustration and opportunity, guiding design decisions that make the app feel more supportive and intuitive.
